Project:
Determine if wall diffusers or ceiling diffusers would be more suitable to be placed in the Old Main classrooms.
Thesis:
If new diffusers were to be installed in the classrooms of Old Main would wall diffusers or ceiling diffusers is more suitable.
Initial research will be accomplished by gathering information from the internet and campus library. The initial research will look into the different types of both wall and ceiling diffusers. The most common diffusers will be looked at as well as new and more effective models. An informational email will be sent to Gord Prizeman of E.H. Price Ltd. to review the HVAC seminar that had been attended.
Initial research will be followed by more in depth research into the air flow and the cause and effect of the different diffusers. Gord Prizeman and E.H. Price will be the main source of information during the secondary research. E.H. Price is a top company in the distribution of diffusers and they were able to provide valuable information and diagrams at their HVAC seminar.
A conclusion will eventually be reached on which diffuser would be most suitable for the classrooms in Old Main. There will be a decision made for either wall diffusers or ceiling diffusers and if enough research is done there can be a decision to what model of diffuser would be most efficient.

Wall Diffusers
These are examples of wall diffusers.

The wall diffuser shown above is a Jet flow diffuser. This diffuser is for direct mounting in a round duct.

The second wall diffuser shown above is a Spiro duct diffuser. The horizontal and/or vertical vanes are manually adjustable.

Project:
Determine if the water used for a green wall can be linked to the sanitary system of its building.
Steps of planning:
· Determine criteria
§ What watering system is typically used for green walls?
· Initial research
§ Research further into green wall watering systems
§ How is the green wall system linked into a building?
§ How is the wastewater cleaned?
§ Research through books and internet websites
· Secondary research
§ Research a typical building sanitary system
§ Any added pumping system required?
§ Research by personal contacts and interviews
· Data collection
§ Collect all researched data and any extra information
§ Identify vital information
· Conclude
§ Acquire any final information
§ Determine if this method would work
Also:
· Contact Architect for new University building on campus
· Research a Mechanical Engineer who has worked on a green building system
Special Problems:
· Green walls are new which could mean less articles and books for research
· This process of joining water systems may not be possible

Welcome to my blog
Hi everyone,
Welcome to my blog about the air diffusers in the classrooms of Old Main. The purpose of my blog is to research the difference in air transfer between wall diffusers and ceiling diffusers. I am interested in any input you may have on my topic.
